What You Can Do with a Kinesiology Degree

If you love health, movement, and helping people feel and perform their best, a Kinesiology degree can take you in a lot of exciting directions. At Concordia University Texas, our Kinesiology program is designed to help students build a strong academic foundation while also gaining the kind of hands-on experience that prepares them for real careers.
A Degree with Versatile Career Paths
One of the best things about Kinesiology is how versatile it is. At its core, Kinesiology is the study of human movement, exercise, and performance. But what makes it so valuable is where it can lead. Students who earn a Kinesiology degree can go into fitness, coaching, sports performance, education, and a variety of health-related fields.
For some students, that means becoming a personal trainer or strength coach. For others, it means working with athletes, teaching physical education, or using their degree as a starting point for graduate school in areas like physical therapy, occupational therapy, or athletic training. It is a broad field, which gives students room to discover what fits their strengths and interests.
Hands-On Learning That Builds Real-World Skills
At Concordia Texas, we believe students learn best when they can apply what they are learning in real settings. That is why our Kinesiology program emphasizes practical application through interactive labs, internships, and real-world scenarios. These experiences help students connect classroom concepts to the kinds of professional environments where they may one day serve and lead.
Our students also gain valuable exposure through internships with professional, college, and high school sports teams. Those opportunities allow them to experience the pace, expectations, and rewards of working in sports and health-related settings. They begin building not only technical knowledge, but also the communication, adaptability, and professionalism that employers and graduate programs value.
Career Opportunities in Fitness, Sports, Education, and Health
A Kinesiology degree can lead in many directions. Many graduates pursue careers in personal training, strength and conditioning, coaching, sports administration, or physical education. While others use the degree as a strong foundation for graduate study in fields such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, and other healthcare-related professions. With a broad discipline like Kinesiology, students have the opportunity to discover where their interests and strengths align while developing a strong understanding of the human body and movement.
Certifications That Strengthen Your Resume
One of the distinctive features of our program is the opportunity for students to elevate their credentials with nationally recognized certifications in Fitness Professional and Pre-Health fields. These industry-leading certifications strengthen a student’s resume and help them stand out in a competitive marketplace.
We are proud to partner with the National Academy of Sports Medicine to provide students with access to respected, industry-recognized credentials. That partnership reflects our commitment to preparing students for the realities of today’s professional landscape. A degree is important, but employers also want to see evidence of hands-on preparation and practical skill. By combining academic study with professional certifications, students graduate better positioned to enter the workforce as qualified experts in their field.
Faculty Support That Makes a Difference
Just as important as the coursework and credentials is the support students receive throughout the program. At Concordia Texas, students are guided by professors who genuinely care about their growth. We want students to feel known, encouraged, and challenged as they work toward their goals, and faculty mentorship plays an important role in helping students grow academically, professionally, and personally.
Turn Your Passion into Purpose
A Kinesiology degree is not just about preparing for one job title. It is about building skills, gaining experience, and finding ways to make a meaningful impact. Whether a student wants to work in sports, fitness, education, or healthcare, this degree can open doors.
At Concordia University Texas, we are proud to help students turn their passion into purpose through hands-on learning, industry-recognized credentials, and mentorship that continues beyond the classroom.
