Dr. Whitney Crowley is Assistant Professor of Music, Music Department Chair, School of Fine Arts Director, and Symphonic Mariachi Director at Concordia University Texas. A forward-thinking music educator and leader, she brings more than 21 years of experience in Texas public school music education and higher education to her work with students, faculty, and the broader CTX community.
Dr. Crowley’s teaching and leadership center on student belonging, musical growth, and future-ready learning. Her expertise includes music education, instrumental ensembles and conducting, recruitment and program building, audio production, curriculum development, and the ethical integration of generative AI and emerging technologies. She helped develop CTX’s Audio Production Concentration and continues to support innovative pathways that prepare students for evolving careers in music, education, media, and creative industries.
Her doctoral research explored how secondary music ensemble participation influences students’ social-emotional competencies, a foundation that continues to shape her student-centered approach. At CTX, Dr. Crowley has led initiatives including the High School Music Camp, music department tours and performances, and expanded opportunities for student leadership, collaboration, and creative engagement.
Dr. Crowley earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration from Concordia University Texas, a Master of Music in Music Education from The University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor of Music in Musical Arts from Vanderbilt University. Through teaching, conducting, program development, and technology integration, she is committed to creating meaningful music experiences where students belong, grow, and prepare to lead.
